Veterinarians examine and treat animals and work on animal welfare, disease control and food safety. The profession requires a veterinary degree and a licence from the Swedish Board of Agriculture (Jordbruksverket), and in Sweden the degree is offered by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU).
