About lonen.se

lonen.se exists because Swedish salary statistics are public and free — but in practice they are buried in a statistical database behind four-digit occupation codes and dropdown menus. This site pulls the same figures and shows them as ordinary pages you can search for.

It covers 395 occupations with average pay, median pay, the full pay range, differences between sectors, genders, age groups, levels of education and regions, plus how pay has developed over time.

The site is Swedish, and so is the data. This English edition exists for everyone outside Sweden trying to work out what a job here actually pays — before a move, a job application or a salary negotiation with a Swedish employer.

The site is created by Martin Andersson.

lonen.se is an independent side project. It is not a company, and it is not connected to Statistics Sweden, the National Mediation Office or any trade union.

How the site is funded

Right now it is not funded at all — there are no ads and no partnerships. Should that change, ads will be clearly marked, and they will never affect which figures are shown. The statistics belong to Statistics Sweden and do not change.

About the English occupation names

Occupation names come from Statistics Sweden's own English edition of the statistical database, which follows SSYK 2012 — the Swedish version of the international ISCO-08 classification. For the occupations people search for most, we use a shorter, more familiar title instead: Nurse rather than Professional nurses. The underlying SSYK code is unchanged and is printed on every page, so any figure here can be traced back to the source.

Each occupation page also lists the Swedish job titles that belong to the code. Those are the titles you will actually meet in Swedish job ads.

Report an error

The figures are fetched mechanically from Statistics Sweden, so plain numerical errors are rare. Occupation names and descriptions are another matter. If something looks wrong, get in touch.
