Installation and service electricians install, troubleshoot and maintain electrical systems in homes, commercial premises and other buildings. A common route is the electricity and energy programme at upper secondary school, followed by an apprenticeship with an electrical contractor. Electrical installation work may only be carried out by a company registered with the National Electrical Safety Board (Elsäkerhetsverket), where an authorised electrical installer is responsible for the work. Most electricians work for private contractors, and pay varies with experience, qualifications and location.
