Guess the Salary

Five Swedish jobs a day. How close do you get to the real median salary?

Loading the game…

How to play

  1. You get a job and a hint about which occupational field it belongs to.
  2. Drag the slider or type what you think the median monthly salary is.
  3. You score points for how close you get — up to 100 per job, 500 for a round.
  4. After each guess you see the whole pay range and can click through to the job's page.

Scoring is relative to the real salary rather than in kronor, and on a logarithmic scale: guessing twice as much costs as much as guessing half. You score zero from 50% too high or 33% too low.

Jobs that tend to surprise people

The median salary across all jobs in Sweden is 38,300 SEK. These jobs sit furthest from it — in opposite directions.

Frequently asked questions

How does Guess the Salary work?

You get five jobs a day. For each one you guess the gross monthly salary, and score points depending on how close you get to the median according to Statistics Sweden. A maximum of 100 points per job, so 500 for a full round.

How is the score calculated?

The score is based on how far off you are relative to the real salary, not on how many kronor. The scale is logarithmic: guessing twice as much costs exactly as much as guessing half. You score zero from 50% too high or 33% too low.

Which salary am I guessing?

The median gross monthly salary, converted to full time, across all sectors. The median is the salary in the middle of the scale — half earn less, half earn more. Across all jobs in Sweden it is 38,300 SEK.

Is there a new puzzle every day?

Yes, a new one at midnight Swedish time. Every player gets the same five jobs on the same day. If you want to play more, practice mode gives you random jobs.

Where do the figures come from?

From Statistics Sweden's salary structure statistics for 2025 — the same statistics the rest of lonen.se is built on.
