Advokater are lawyers admitted to the Swedish Bar Association, who represent and advise clients in legal matters such as criminal cases, family law and commercial law. The title advokat is protected and may only be used by members of the Bar. Admission requires a law degree, several years of practical legal experience, usually as an associate at a law firm, and a passed bar examination. Nearly all work at law firms, and pay varies with the size and focus of the firm and with experience.
