Vehicle mechanics service, troubleshoot and repair cars, trucks, buses and other vehicles, increasingly with the help of diagnostic equipment. The usual route in is the vehicle and transport programme at upper secondary school, and no licence is required. Most work at franchised dealer workshops and independent garages, or for hauliers and other companies with their own fleets. Pay varies mainly with experience, skills and the type of workshop.
